Privacy Policy

The short version
Turm does not collect, sell or share your personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking in the app. Everything you enter stays on your devices, or in your own iCloud Keychain if you turn on sync.
Turm is made by Zak Noble-Clarke, who is responsible for this policy.
What stays on your device
Your SSH hosts, shortcuts, saved passwords, SSH keys, trusted host keys, paired Macs and settings are stored on your device. Passwords, keys and pairing secrets are kept in the system Keychain. On the Mac, Turm also keeps usage statistics of the commands and folders you use to improve its suggestions. They never leave the Mac. None of this is sent to us.
iCloud sync
iCloud sync is off until you turn it on. When it is on, your SSH hosts, global shortcuts, remembered passwords and stored SSH keys are kept in iCloud Keychain, which is end-to-end encrypted by Apple and tied to your own Apple Account. We cannot read it. You can turn sync off, or delete everything Turm has stored in iCloud, from the app's settings at any time.
Your data and deleting it
Your data is kept for as long as you keep it in the app. You can delete hosts, SSH keys, trusted host keys and paired Macs from the app at any time.
- Deleting the app removes its data from the device. iOS may keep Keychain items, such as saved passwords and keys, after an app is deleted, so remove them in the app first if you want them gone.
- Delete iCloud Data, in the app's iCloud settings, removes everything Turm has stored in your iCloud Keychain, on all your devices.
Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. If you have questions, contact us below.
Network connections
Turm only connects where you tell it to:
- To SSH servers you add, using the details you entered.
- To Macs running Turm that you pair with, over your local network or an address you provide. Local network access is used to find those Macs.
These connections go directly between your devices and your servers. They do not pass through any server of ours.
On the Mac, Turm checks for updates by downloading an update feed from GitHub Pages. As with any web request, GitHub receives your IP address and the app version. No other information is sent, and you can turn automatic checks off in the Mac app.
Permissions
- Camera: only to scan the pairing code shown on your Mac. Images are not saved or sent anywhere.
- Local network: to find and connect to Macs running Turm.
